Plant a seed....GO GREEN!!

SparksParticlesRudimentsInklingsNotionsGrains

It's springtime in the Midwest and all kinds of unsual seeds are being planted.

Yesterday, my teenage daughter announced she would like to try a vegetarian diet as it was easier on the environment. She had researched her options -typical - and was ready to make an informed decision. So it's out with her steak and in with tofu. It will not be easy for her since she will need to plan ahead (unless she wants to survive on raw carrots and orange juice) but we are really supportive of her healthy choice and proud she is developing a social conscience. Guess the spores of responsibilty have found fertile ground

"Green" signs have sprouted in the public spaces around our home, reminding us of ways we can be kinder and gentler to our earth - choose products in glass vs. plastic containers, take Navy showers, turn off lights when leaving a room. (Again, our budding environemtnalist is responsible.) Ironically, she wasn't quite clear about what she was asking of her family, as she decided Navy showers were too great a sacrifice.....she thought Navy showers meant showering without hot water! Once I explained it was a conservation technique and not a temperature issue, she was willing to leave it on the list. Kernels of concern sometimes need a bit of watering to take root.

Last but not least, I witnessed this seedling winding its way down the interstate.

Once planted, the field will look something like this......

What kind of kernels are you sowing?
How does YOUR garden grow?
